It was a little strange as the dentist herself did my cleaning and I did not ask for that. She seemed annoyed! She was ok but there was definitely an annoyance by her. She didn’t like that I had the TV on in the room yet I didn’t ask for it or put it on- the hygienist put it on. Also when I got there they told me my appointment was canceled, when I did not cancel it. I did receive a phone call asking me if I was going to my appointment and I said yes! They didn’t know about the confirmed phone call! Despite that the 2 women up front were very nice to me.

Generally, I’m quite happy with the office and the care.
I’m at the tail end of an Invisalign program and would have appreciated more communication around what to expect at this point in the patient experience.
Today, I believed I was at the end of the program. I thought we would measure for the retainer but the buttons would come off and I would be effectively done.
This was not the case - we measured for the retainer but I have to keep the final tray in for the next couple of weeks until they come in and then I can get the buttons off etc.
None of this is a big deal, but my expectations were that I was going to get everything done today and when that didn’t happen, I was disappointed that there’s another appointment around the corner. (You know the feeling when you think you’re done and then your not)
It’s very easily solved with a little bit of expectation setting along the way so I know what’s next and how I can continue to do the right things at home.

I really like this dentist office. I have had Dr. Portman in the past so this is my first experience with a different dentist here. The only thing I don’t like is the way they clean your teeth. They use some ‘modern’ tool that acts a lot like a mini Jack-hammer, rattling your teeth and jaw and skull on the top. It has a very high pitched wine/squeal that is also unsettling. I’m not squeamish, I don’t mind drills and I don’t mind hooks and picks and scraping on my teeth but this tool makes my skin crawl.
